Professional Career
My career started at the ripe old age of 18 at Cardiff university where I got myself a degree in nursing. I have been nursing now for 10 years which has provided me with so much life and medical experience. I have worked in many settings over Cardiff, London, Devon and Bristol - this has broadened my skills and knowledge in health/ill health, the human body and medicine. The majority of my career was spent doing community nursing where I managed a team of nurses in London. I experienced working with many health conditions including diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, gastroenterology, musculoskeletal, wound care, epilepsy, learning disabilities, mental health, dementia, cancer, palliative care and many many more. For a short period of time I worked on the maternity ward in London -where I learned so much about pregnancy, labour, surgery, recovery, breast feeding and mother and babies health.
Nutrition Career
My nutrition story began when my sister became ill. We were ready to try anything to support her treatment through Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. My mum especially and myself (among others) started frantically researching about what she should be eating and doing to best support her chemotherapy treatment. This sense of control brought a positivity and hope and this was what she needed mentally to bring her through it. I strongly believe that a healthy mind is a key ingredient in healing the body. She got some interesting advise regarding diet, this with the research we had done confirmed my wishes to end my career as a nurse and pursue a career in nutrition. I studied Naturopathic Nutrition at The college of naturopathic medicine (CNM) Bristol and I’m so happy I did. My sister is now well and thriving.
